Make Up Blog

The Lakers are currently in the playoffs in which the best of 7 games are played. In the first round of the playoffs, the Lakers faced the Hornets. The Lakers were able to win 4 of the 7 and advance to the second round after defeating the Hornets 98 to 80 Thursday night in the 5th game of the series. The Lakers will now go on to face the Mavericks. The team has really pulled it together and are looking like they want to win another title.

The Lakers will face the Mavericks this Monday and it will be a tough series for the Lakers, but as long as they continue to work together they should do fine. The Lakers were very succesful rebounding against the Hornets and that is how they scored most of their points. Kobe Bryant has averaged 25 points per game so far in the playoffs. If the Lakers keep on playing the way they are, they should not have any trouble winning the title! This would be their third straight title!

Lakers vs Kings

This week, the Lakers faced the Kings. This was an away game for the Lakers. The Lakers were able to come away with a win, which moving their record to 57 and 25. The Lakers are 27 and 14 in away games. The final score was 116 to 108.  The leading scorer for the Lakers was Kobe Bryant with 36 points.

The Lakers have had trouble coming away with the win the past few games, but hopefully they turn it around in time for the playoffs. The Lakers were able to win this game because Kobe hit a 3 point shot to tie the game with 4 seconds left sending the game into overtime. The Lakers were able to control overtime as they  jumped out to a six point lead right away. The Lakers were up by 20 in the 4th quarter and let the Kings come back and take the lead.  In my opinion, the Lakers have been losing more games than they should because they slack off. Hopefully they get it together for the playoffs!

Lakers vs Portland

This week, the Lakers faced the Trail Blazers.  This was an away game for the Lakers. The Lakers weren't able to come away with the win as they lost 93 to 86. This is the Lakers 4th straight loss. Currently, the Lakers are sitting with a record of 55-24. The Lakers are second in their division which pretty good, but they need to step it up if they want to do anything in the playoffs.

There were many reasons the Lakers were defeated this game. Kobe said "the main reason we were defeated tonight is because our guys were sluggish".  Kobe put up 24 points this game, but as a team the Lakers couldn't get their shots to fall. Another main reason for the loss was that the Lakers had 17 turnovers compared to the Trail Blazers 9.

Lakers vs Mavericks

This week, the Lakers faced the Mavericks. It was a home game for the Lakers. This was a Western Conference game to help determine playoff seeding, with the winning team possibly earning home court advantage in the second round of the playoffs. In the 4th quarter, a brawl broke out and four players were ejected from the game. The Lakers are currently 16 and 1 since the All Star break.

The Lakers overall record is 54-20.  Kobe was a big part in this game scoring 28 points, Bynum was right behind him with 18 points and 13 rebounds. The Lakers won the game 110-82. This was the Lakers 8th win in a row, which is the longest current winning streak in the NBA.

Lakers vs Minnesota

This week, the Lakers faced the Minnesota Timberwolves. This was a home game for the Lakers. The Lakers were able to come away with a win this game. The final score was 98 to 106. The leading scorer of the game was Gasol with 25 points and Kobe was the next high scorer with 18 points. Brown came up big in this game, scoring 14 points off the bench.

The Lakers have won three of their past 4 games, losing to Miami Heat a week ago. They now have a record of 49 and 20. This has not been the Lakers best year, but they are progressively getting better. Hopefully, Kobe and the boys pull it together and win another championship ring!

Overview of the Lakers season

This blog is going to give you an overview of the Lakers season so far. I have not been able to blog on every game, so this blog will explain some games that I did not include in previous blogs and will also include how the Lakers are currently doing.
The Lakers record is now 46-19 and they are beginning to turn their season around. The Lakers were on a losing streak for a couple weeks, but now it seems that Kobe and the team have gotten their game together. The Lakers are currently on an eight game winnig streak! The eight teams that the Lakers have beaten include:  Atlanta, Portland, LA Clippers, Oklahoma, Minnesota, Charlotte, San Antonio, and Atlanta twice. The Lakers face the Miami Heat. It is an away game for the Lakers, but they should come away with another win. The Heat beat the Lakers the first time they faced each other, but the Heat have not been doing very well the past few weeks and are currently on a five game losing streak!

Lakers vs Hawks

This week the Lakers faced the Hawks. This was a home game for the Lakers. The Lakers came away with a win in this game by defeating the Hawks 104 to 80.  This was a huge win for the Lakers. Their current record is now 39 and 19. Kobe had a pretty good game, scoring 20 points. Pau added another 14 points as he was the second leading scorer for the Lakers. With this win, the Lakers ended their three game losing streak.

The Lakers came away with the win from this game because they were very successful rebounding the ball. The Lakers out rebounded the hawks 54 to 32. Another big reason they were successful was because they held the Hawks from scoring for five minutes straight. The Hawks five starters sat the entire fourth quarter because they were not able to perform against the Lakers.

Lakers vs Cleveland

This week the Lakers faced the Cavaliers. The Cavs current record is 10 and 46, which is terrible! Yet, the Cavs managed to beat the Lakers 99 to 104. After this game, the Lakers were on a three game losing streak. The Lakers record is now 38 and 19. The three top scorers for the Lakers were Gasol with 30 points and 20 rebounds, Fisher with 19 points and Kobe with 17 points.

The Lakers would be doing a lot better if Kobe would get back on top of his game. Right now, he is averaging around 25 points a game. In order for the Lakers to continue winning, Kobe needs to start scoring more. Although Gasol scored 30 points it was not enough to get the win as he needs some players to step up and help him out. During this game, there were two technical fouls given, one to Kobe and one to Bynum. The players need to get their heads in the game and start scoring points so the Lakers can start winning games!

Lakers vs Knicks

This week, the Lakers traveled to New York to face the Knicks. The Lakers ended up coming out on top, defeating the Knicks 113 to 96. One of the big reasons the Lakers were able to come away with the win was Kobe Byrant. Bryant scored 33 points in this game. Kobe was 12 of 17 from the field, and hit four 3 point shots before sitting the rest of the game. Pau Gasol also helped the Lakers a lot during this game by scoring 20 points.

The Lakers have beat the Kicks the last eight times overall, and five in a row at the Garden. Kobe holds the record in the Garden for the most points scored and that is 61. Kobe may have been able to put up close to that amount of points again, but he only played 29 minutes of the game.

Lakers vs Spurs

This week the Lakers faced the San Antonio Spurs. This was a home game for the Lakers. Unfortunately, the Lakers could not get the job done. The Lakers lost 89 to 88. The Lakers record is currently 35 and 14. Pau Gasol was the leading scorer for the Lakers with 19 points. Kobe was held to 16 points, as was Lamar Odom. When Kobe does not have a big game, the Lakers are not usually on the winning end.

The Lakers should not have lost this game as they dominated inside the paint scoring 42 points compared to the 32 that the Spurs scored. The Lakers also out rebounded the Spurs 44 to 38. The Lakers also had a better shooting percentage from the three point range. The main reason the Spurs won was because with 6 seconds left on the clock, they made a basket that put them up by 1.

Lakers vs Celtics

This week the Lakers played the Boston Celtics. The Celtics traveled to Los Angeles to face the Lakers. These two teams always play each other hard. In this game, the Celtics came out on top with a 13 point victory, defeating the Lakers 109 to 96. The Lakers record is now 33 and 15.

Although Kobe scored 41 points this game, the Lakers were unable to keep up with the Celtics. The Celtics just out hussled the Lakers. Rebounds made a big difference in this game as the Celtics out rebounded the Lakers 43 to 30. Kobe Byrant scored his 27,000th career point in this game, but that was not enough to lead his team to a victory.

The Lakers have beaten the Knicks the past six games in a row and made it seven after defeating them 109 to 87 Sunday night. The Lakers are beginning to get their game together, as they are currently on a four game winning streak. This was a very physical game in which many hard fouls were committed.  The Lakers and Knicks are pretty big rivals which lead to many fights during the game.
